Removing Stripped Bolts From Derby Cover - 1001 days old
This problem arises because most torx kits do not come with a #27 bit in them and a #25 is used by mistake. They must be purchased seperately.
Easiest way to eliminate this problem is to use the #27 Torx bit to remove these fasteners, while many use a #25 by mistake, it fits sloppy and usually ends up striping the head of the bolt, but... Read more

Clutch Adjustment By The Book - 991 days old
Clutch Adjustment Technique By The Book
Let's go over the basics of clutch adjustment on late motorcycle models.
Ideally, you want the motorcycle to be on a lift or stand. The procedure can be done on the kickstand but, some primary fluid may leak out. If no lift is available, a block of wood under the stand will help then.

Primary Oil Leak - 332 days old
Here's a tip posted by "TQ" that happens quite often and is mistaken for a primary leak when it was the vent hose on the transmission causing the oil to mist onto the inner primary and appear as if it was leaking.
Before you do all that, is there a small "j" shape black tubing on a nipple that comes out of the trans top... Read more

Trouble Finding Neutral - 969 days old
A few things that can lead to having trouble finding neutral are as follows.
1. Improper clutch adjustment or cable adjustment.
2. Primary fluid level too high.
It should be premeasured or just up to the bottom of the clutch basket with the bike upright and level.
3. Poor quality trans fluid.
You will see a... Read more

E Z Pull Clutch (big twins) - 693 days old
Made by Burly
I have used these units in a few bikes including my own in the past. The work well in reducing the clutch pull at the handle. I used a spring scale on an installation to see just how much they lightened the pull. The before and after was a noticable difference of the loss of 3-4 pounds pull on the lever end.
It's... Read more

Clutch Cable Replacement - 1001 days old
With the installation of new cables, there should be no need to adjust the clutch itself if the clutch was OK before hand. You need the 1/8 to 1/16 at the handle after you are done which is gotten by the adjustment in the cable itself. Really easy to do.
Drain the trans fluid first so it doesn't get messy. The cable change requires... Read more

Automatic Chain Tensioner Adjustment - 668 days old
Here's a trick to reduce the constant engine noise that sounds like valve train noises on the newer 96 Cu In. bikes that have the auto adjusting primary chain tensioners and no inspection port.
I tried this on my RKC and can notice a definite improvement. The problem seems to be coming from the primary chain and not really the valve train... Read more
