Re: IDS Drive System

Does anybody know if one of these ID systems can be installed on a 07 Softail. I have an 07 FLSTC Heritage and I asked my dealer about installing the 08 IDS on my bike. The dealer said it can only be put on touring models. Is that True.

It's not needed on pre 07 bikes with the 5 speeds. It's an "enhancement" as they call it for the noises the newer 6 speeds make.

Re: IDS Drive System

Glider, Is the axle nut on an 06 bagger 36mm as well? I used a 1-3/8" socket and torque wrench when replacing a tire the other day. If you haven't already can you tell where to get a "push-pressure gauge" and how to adjust the belt tension on the 06 bagger frames?

Thanks for your great advise (this new bike with belt stuff) is definetly a learning curve!

Re: IDS Drive System

Not sure on the nut size, but the belt tensioner is available at the dealer.
Lots of info can be found with the search feature on the site too.

Take a look here.

The mod kinda reminds me of the standard rear wheel hub "cush drive" that helps silence driveline "snatch" on chain drive "Metric" bikes for many years. Interesting how this sprinkle down technology has spread around.

Re: IDS Drive System

That's exactly what it is. The cush drive has been around forever on some bikes. Harley reinvented the wheel.
