Unhappy Harleys Transmission and Primary all in one oil

Hi all, this is my first posting,my bike is a 1998 Dyna Low Rider which i have had since new. the problem with it is, since i did this years oil changes back in the spring using for the first time Harleys Transmission and Primary all in one oil the clutch has been draging. As an example with engine off, 1st gear engaged, and clutch lever pulled right in the bike is very difficult to push. All clutch adjustments are correct.Has anyone else had problems after using this new oil The clutch can be felt draging when changing gears while riding, prior to this last oil change never had a problem.

Re: Harleys Transmission and Primary all in one oil

I take it you mean SNY 3 oil.
You may need to adjust you clutch a bit when adding that to primary. Also SNY oil of any kind is not the best way to go for a well used clutch.
While sny3 is is not the worst oil in the world using it in all 3 holes is not the best way to go. May of us have tried it and backed off.
Basicly this is what most will say .
Primary run HD F+ not any sny oil
Tranmission one of the good brand true 100% sny gear lubes such as Redline shock proof heavy, Spectro, ect
Engine one of the 100% true sny engine oils in 20/50 for Vtwin engines Like M1 for vtwins ,redline engine oil, spectro oil.amsoil ect.
And HD filters .
I would bet the SNY change effected your clutch adjust a bit it does not take much. Also check the level of the primary that can cause problems also.
Stop in here there are threads devote to all these topics with fact and opions from many will give you a lot to look at

If you refer to the formula+ that harley sells for primary/trans applications, that is a thick oil and you may get some drag between the clutch plates as you are experiencing with your bike. Try it once the bike is warmed up and see if it is better. A better clutch adjustment with the clutch lever grabbing further from the bar will change this too. If it is grabbing close to the bar, you may not be getting enough clutch plate separation with the thick oil.
What you are experiencing isn't abnormal with the engine cold.
