5 speed in a 4 speed case clearance problems

i recently put a 5 speed in a 4 speed case in my 77 flh. i am having problems with the final drive chain clearing between the transmission and the inner primary. it was supposed to be a drop in replacement but that is not the case. is there another inner primary that will give me the clearance and bolt up to a shovel head motor and this style tranny.
