Re: Starter Clutch

Ask them to see the flat rate schedule for the starter clutch job, bet they can't find the book.

Re: Starter Clutch

They included the compression test for the hour. They SAY, compression is 215 a cylinder.

"Textbook" they said.

Re: Starter Clutch

215 ???? If it was that high the starter couldn't crank it over and you would need compression releases to start it. I think they are pulling your chain , either that or you have an inch of carbon buildup in the chambers.

I smell fish!

Re: Starter Clutch

It'd be quite interesting to find out what the "textbook" actually DOES call for.

Re: Starter Clutch

Hi

I've been looking for these instructions for days. Big thank's. Some that I seen, shown to removed the seat, battery, oil tank. They went the other way.. Why is this. Years of the bike.... All instructions I've seen don't mention year's and model those instructions were for. By the way is your's ok for a 1997 Softail.

Thank's

Pierre

Re: Starter Clutch

Different procedures for different bikes (models) Some do require the oil tank to be removed for access to the starter for removal which would be the softails. Your best bet would be to follow your manual for this.
