I had it done on my 05 Electra Glide Standard. Got mine in the orginal chopper blue color.

I got the hardware from the Dealer and installed everything myself. It is not that hard to do.

One thing I like about my '09 RK is that I can add a fairing and/or tour pak without having to do any mods or take anything off. The ultimate in flexibility in my view!

Re: Detachable tour pack for 08 Ultra?

Got the bike in October...1100 miles on it now. The new wheels, front end, and 103 SE go in over the winter (whenever I give up on the weather.) Tour Pak before my May trip down to VA to visit my daughter. Not sure on the fairing yet. BTW, any opinions on Hoppe vs. Dragonfly vs. others?

Here's some others to look over too.

Fairings For Bikes - Harley Davidson Community

Hoppe & Dragonfly Are both good units IMO. Lots of others but these are the most common.

In doing the detachable kit for the '08 Ultra, did you splice the CB cable or do you just unplug it from under the tour pak liner?

On my '04, I spliced it and mounted it under the fairing. you have to get a little creative with zip ties and be careful where it is, but it worked for me. I had about 1/4 mile range. I got a solder CB coax end from radio shack.

I'm not sure if the '08s are different, but hope this helps. As you can see, it's not completely straitforward, but I think it's worth the work.
