Right Side Drive

How hard would it be to convert a left side drive EG, to a Right side drive? Is it even possible or has it ever been done?

Re: Right Side Drive

you would either need to fab a jack shaft to convert to right side drive or purchase a new gear box, there is then the associated new spacers and ensuring the correct clearances for the belt

Re: Right Side Drive

Just out of curiosity; why would you want to do that?

And number 1 biggest reason we do anything to our bikes because we can

Would it not be simpler to change the drive belt, or replace the belt if it broke?

How often do you go through belts to warrant the cost to change to a right side drive? I dunno, I can understand it for a larger tire, but to each their own.

Re: Right Side Drive

These guys have been doing this for a few years now.

Fat Baggers: Motorcycle Parts, Accessories, Wide Tire Kits, & Bike Apparel. Chariton, Iowa

They have all kinds of wide tire kits, up to 300mm, assuming that's why you'd want to switch to RSD in the first place.

Re: Right Side Drive

The basic concept for the right hand drive is to balance the bike better. If you think of it, the primary, clutch , alternator and a few other things are on the left side. The trans is also off center to the left to accommodate lining things up in the drive system, so right hand drive balances it off.
