Re: How Cold can I go

Here in Michigan it gets darn cold at night, but the ride home from work is beautful. Drive 15 miles one way, it was 38 degrees yesterday morning. I think that's as cold as I want to get. Leather gloves and good leather jacket, but I'm 55 years old so, the blood don't flow like it use to so my hands still get cold.

Re: How Cold can I go

I know what you mean DDOGG. I just got home from a ride tonight and I have to say that this 54yr old body was alittle stiff. Sure can't complain though on how the 07 bagger runs. I would much rather ride in this weather than like it was for the 105th.

Thumbs up Re: How Cold can I go

PA is cold and the roads are bad. I work till 11:30 at night and was a nice ride tonight at 30 degrees and about a 30 mile ride. I found that if you wear a leather jacket and just put on insulated coveralls along with ski mittens and a leather bandana I'm good to about 20. I also have a windshield and snap on lowers. As far as salt on the road I just ride the BMW so the HD can stay in the garage.

Re: How Cold can I go

I agree, My FatBob loves the 50 to 60 degree weather. Don't get me wrong, I rode in August when it was 90 something. But the bike seems to love the cold. I wish I did.

Re: How Cold can I go

Gotta go with what an earlier poster said. You can layer, get a one piece winter suit, chaps, heated gear, etc., etc. However, all that does is keep YOU warm and safe. When the temperature drops enough that there could be ice on the roads, it's time to trade two wheels for four.

Re: How Cold can I go

Out on the road at 40 as long as it's clear and not wet. Man this sounds like a contest of "how low can you go" and then we can all go back to Gary's for more beer!!! Ha,

Re: How Cold can I go

Get some lined gloves I like the ones Gier makes. Other than that you can probably do some reasonable layer up and keep warm. Remember keep the core warm and the rest gets eaiser. You can feel where the cold is getting in so use a scarf, or neck gator to keep the neck covered. Close the wings on the fairing. If something is cold put another layer on it. Multiple thinner layers are better than one thick one.

Re: How Cold can I go

I had the grip warmers installed - love them - went for a ride in 35 degree weather and the only thing cold was my knees...the lowers helped as well...

Re: How Cold can I go

Here in Michigan it was 12 degrees this morning. I rode after Thanksgiving dinner this year. It was 40. That's about my limit. I love to see the look on the face of the driver in the cage next to me at the light when I look over at him and got frozen snot on my mustache.
