'03 Ultra Classic problem
Hello,

I have an '03 Ultra Classic, and it is exhibiting the following problems...

1. Speedometer is erratic...jumps up and down.
2. Cruise control is erratic.
3. Idle is erratic...sometimes drops below normal idle, then dies.
4. Engine occasionally cuts out for approximately 1 second when crusing
along.
5. Turn signals sometimes do not cancel.

I have had it to the dealer, and they claim that they replaced the speed sensor in the transmission, but there has been no improvement. Has anyone seen these problems before...any ideas what it may be? Any help wpuld be much appreciated.

It generally is the speed sensor that causes those symptoms. Possible they didn't change the sensor and just cleaned it, it wouldn't surprise me at all .

Would the speed sensor affect the Idle speed?

It very well could, the ECM doesn't know what the bike is doing as far as speed. It reads off the 4 th gear in the trans. Nothing worse than a confused ECM
