Just call me a "rebel", I guess!

I am from the group that thinks the only thing that madders is what the owner likes.
I know I have stuff I like and don't but part of the HD life is doing it a bit different than the last one.
I have had some rough coments about my RG, but one way I see it is there is not one in every garage. I know it is mine from a block away.
But so does the wife when pictures pop up like at the 105th but we aren't going there

"Rough comments"??? Smit, your Road Glide is BEAUTIFUL! What kind of negative comments have you gotten? I'd love to know what some ninny said to knock your scoot. I have no doubt it was pure jealousy!

The one I get a lot is that is is not or does not look like a Harley.
The RG aka Shark nose has been poorly received by some.
However sale were good according to dealer and the ones they took in trade sold quick.
When we got the RG I had forgotten about the old Tour glide. That was the fixed faring that HD had before the RG. A friend of mine has a 94 sitting at home. Now I do not think I would have bought that bike.
The RG has and is serving me well, after all the only difference in other touring bikes is the faring. If you take the UC,EG,SG And RG line them up other than a slight difference in seat height and bolt on they are the same bike.
The fixed faring handles well in wind the bike is less nose heavy at low speeds. The lights really light up the road. One thing IMO you will not get away with on a RG is to short of a wind shield. The faring it's self is lower so the taller wind shield is needed. Also I feel the foot boards need to be a little bit farther forward. I will miss my Rg with it goes. Plan now is UC for 2010 or 2011 depending on what HD comes up with. I may even figure out away to keep the RG. It is hard enough now riding two and the FB is staying. I know this when it does get traded someone is going to get an amazing used HD.
peril Orange UC na does not work IMO

Will do we talked yesterday with dealer , what came out of the sit down was if HD does something interesting in 2010 with the UC we could deal other wise 2011. Only reason we would Wait for 2011 is to see if they come up with something new. The good part about doing this with dealer is they know we are coming to them no madder what and they keep you in mind if something comes up.
Wife was pretty insistent that the chrome rails around the bags on the UC must go. That surprises me, She is the type if it comes on the bike it stays on the bike. And if works don't fix it. This is the first time she has ever said something has to come off.

Keep this in mind, Smitty. If I can take a RG fairing off and put on a Batwing, you can go the other way, assuming they don't change mounting points before you're ready.

Personally, I think you'd be pretty happy with a batwing and your Backseat will too, once you pull the trigger. I've heard there's a difference.

yea but that would be a bit extreme IMO , I will get use to a bat wing again had them before. There is time yet to see what HD does they may come out with a big suprise maybe not. They may still offer RG in CVO but I was never sold on CVO bikes. Time will tell

My switch cost me $1700 including labor, and that was new fairing with 100th anniversary stripe.

I'm with you 100% on the other two points.
