Re: V&H fuel programmer
put motor oil in the motor and gear oil in the trans and primary oil in the primary (hd+)
engine oil will lubricate the gears and primary but not as well as a dedicated oil and as good as syn is its not the best for your bike regardless of what hd say |

Re: V&H fuel programmer
If you check in the self help forums, you'll find many topics on this. Use the link at the bottom of this post.
The trans should have a gear oil in it, not engine oil. I prefer Spectro platinum or another one if you can't find this is Mobil 1 synthetic 75/90 or 75/140 or even redline shockproof heavy. Just don't use an engine oil in the trans. The performance + from HD is fine in the primary. You can also drain the oil out and replace it with synthetic with no problems. The little that is left in there mixes very well.

Re: V&H fuel programmer
The service people at my HD dealership are also suggesting syn 3 for my next oil change for all the holes. For the engine they say syn 3 is made for the roller bearings that we have. Nearly all the workers at the dealership have Harleys and they all use the Syn 3.

Re: V&H fuel programmer
I would use a better grade of synthetic oil. Syn 3 isn't a true synthetic.

Re: V&H fuel programmer
That was an old tale told by the MOCO when they were not in the oil market. Ever since they realized the profit involved selling a semi synthetic and calling it synthetic and having it made by Hugo Chavez , it's OK now.
The old bearing skate thing is just not true at all.

Problem fixed (I HOPE)
After talking with you guys, I went back to V & H web site. Checked the codes again. Either I looked up the wrong no#, or they changed the codes. Reset the programmer, started it up, sounds a lot better. Between work, and rain , no time to really try her out. Hopefully soon, then I will let you know for sure. Glide 33
