My chrome shift linkage (just purchased) has a gold hue as well. Sort of stands out from the other chrome.

Could be a bad chrome job and the copper is giving it a coloration from below. Check out other ones where you got it from if it bothers you and tell them to replace it if the other ones look better. There has to be a warranty on it.
