Smile RK Battery Dead

Does anyone know how or if you can pull codes from a RK. Friend has a 2003 RK and battery goes dead after a couple days of sitting. He says he has installed 2 different batteries the last couple years. If he rides it is good for a couple days and then goes dead he said battery tender ruined his other batteries. Sounds like some kind of short to me need help!!!

00-03 HD Codes And Activation - Harley Davidson Community (00-03 HD Codes And Activation) hope this helps, check the charging system, the tender should not ruin a battery IMO there is a drain or short some where

No, you will have to start at the battery and work your way thru each system. I would check the voltage at idle first should be at least 13 volts and load test the battery, a dead short there could be the whole problem, Good luck and let us know, there is a lot of help here for you, Hoople is MR. Electricity, if he cant help no one can, Capital Jack

Re: RK Battery Dead

Checking for leakage branch currents is rather tedious, but would be very expensive at the dealer...look here from Self Help tips:

http://www.hdtalking.com/electrical_and_lighting_systems/13352-battery_draw_test.html

BTW you do not need an expensive DMM...Harbor Freight sells one inside of $8...less with 20% Off coupon.
