Road King electrical issue

I have an 05 Road King and it has done well for me over the past few years until the other day. As most mornings I got on the bike heading to work but when I went to take off it stalled out. I started it back up and it did fine until I got to the end of the driveway where it lost power all together. I had recently put a new battery and plugs in it so I didn't think that to be the problem. I checked the main fuse, the battery connections, and plugs but all is ok. One thing I noticed is that with the bike completely off the speedo needle bounces around a bit. I'm thinking this may have something to due with the power loss but not sure. Any suggestions?
