2010 low HP and Torque on Dyno

I did pipes, air breather and supertuner on my 2010 UC Limited - today was Dyno day and they stopped after getting baseline data - they could not get the torque and HP where it should be... it was way low - said they saw the same thing on another 2010 and that it was a misalligned oil pump. They are contacting HD to get authorization to repair - the good news... while they are in there I'm going to upgrade my cams (free labor)
Anyone heard of this problem yet?

what do they class as low HP/TQ as the limitied is a 103 and should be seeing 90+ on both HP and TQ at the rear wheel

It was less than what an 88 will put out - I don't remember the number but I do remember that sad statement by the tech when he was taking it off the machine...

Remember this tho the figures quoted by HD are at the crank not at the wheel so you get parastic losses from the motor and tranny anywhere between 15-20%

Re: 2010 low HP and Torque on Dyno

I've heard of the oil pump being misaligned resulting in a wet sump condition. That would drag the top end numbers down.

Re: 2010 low HP and Torque on Dyno

so hobbit your saying if hd service did the dyno your actual numbers should be 15-20% higher because their measuring at the crank not the wheel so when they told me my numbers were 84 hp and 104 tq my actual hp could be as high as 100 and my tq in the 120 range?

NO let me explain
Many people buy the bike and see that HD have said it has lets say 100ft/lbs tq and 90hp in catalogue specs sheet they think great it has loads of grunt they do a stage 1 up grade and have it dyno tuned and the dyno returns say 90ft/lbs and 80hp and they go off on a rant (not saying this is the case) saying that their bike is down on power and they have spent all this money and it does not even make the figures quoted by the maker for stock - well this is the kicker and the difference between crank and rear wheel.

HD will quote the figures at the crank without parastic losses
Dyno will give you Rear wheel power with parastic losses

So back to the theoritical bike stock with 100ft/lbs and 90 hp (ATC) will have 80 ft/lbs RWTQ and 72 RWHP and
stage 1
90ft/lbs RWTQ and 80RWHP will have 108FT/lbs 96RWHP (ATC)

hope this explains things a little
