spark knock

Is my timing to advanced and causing my 99 roadking to spark knock when pulling hard? It only does it under heavy load like pulling up the mountain on a hot day.I can drop to fourth and it goes away more into the powerrange but I like to chug and look at the scenery.

Re: spark knock

Running the motor in too lower gear at too lower RPM is probably what is causing it from what you say. Other causes are too low an octane gas and if you changed plugs or wires from stock, the ion sensing isn't working to avoid it.

Besides chugging the motor is very bad for the bottom end on these motors.
