Re: Bitchin Baggers

Well, he did say that at 1.5" I could expect bottoming out, which is in line with your comment a 1.6". If I did decdide to do this, I would not exceed 1.25" as that would be sufficient to acheive flat footed. I will wait and see. There has been much talk of ride deteriation as a result of lowering, but from what I have read it is mostly with lowering of greater magnitude. I agree about testimonials, they only post the good ones!

Re: Bitchin Baggers

My last bike was a deuce that was lowered 1" from the factory. It rode like a brick but it was a fast brick.

He said he thought the ride actually improves untill you get past 1.5". He also told me that if I do it and am not completely satisfiied, he will refund money and send me a new set of stock shocks. If you read the testimonials, it seems legit. I am thinking about doing this. All I am looking for is to get flat footed. HD progressive only give you .75" and nearly $400. This is $175. Not jumping just yet, but I am close. I will wait till I hear some more feedback as I am not a wrench and do not want to make a mistake.
Just left the Harley shop and asked the parts manager about the HD shocks that lower, same ones on the street glide. He said it actually lowers more than .75 inches. He is my height and said he put them on his UC and went from the balls of his feet to flat footed. I was going to put the lowering link and he said it puts undo stress on the internals of the shock do to exaggerated angle. I personally am going to get the HD lowering shocks and take seat to Mean City Cycles to lower and reado the shape of the seat. If you have set on a stock street glide and then a RG or EGS, youll notice the difference in the seat and stock seat height.

Re: Bitchin Baggers

I don't know if this will help, but I just went out to my bike and took a few EASY measurements (it's cold out there!).

2009 SG
Shocks Eye to Eye: 12"
Top of Brake Rotor to bottom edge of fender directly above it: 4.5"

I did the second measurement so that those of you with EG shocks could see how much SG shocks would drop the rear of the bike, since shocks are on an angle.

There was no weight on the bike. I didn't do seat height, as seats and tires vary. (and it's cold out there, I was trying to be quick!)

Hope this helps you compare.
