Any one ever own or ride a XR1000
Is that the black cafe racer thingy from about 1977 and 1978? (sportster)

The black cafe thingy was the XLCR
Looks like its more of dirt track thingy from 1984

But you're right - doesn't sound like it sold very well.
Now I did ride one of these. The day the gent bought it in 1978. Just rode it around a school parking lot. Sadly the owner wrecked it and never did get it fixed as I recall. :newsmile04: Don't know if he didn't have insurance or what the deal was. I don't think he even rode it 6 months. An odd situation.
I sat on a XLCR at a HD dealer in Oconomowoc Wisconsin a couple of winters ago. What a tiny little bike. It was a perfect low-miler specimen owned by an actual HD family member. It may have been the great-grandson’s niece’s brother-in-laws uncle twice removed, or something like that, but the sellers name on the title was authenticated as from the Davidson family.
The asking price was $7500 and I really really really wanted to ship it home. However my better judgment took over and I moved up to a big twin.
