xl1200r engine light

I have a 2004 xl1200r and the engine light comes on alot. The carb also spits when the light is on . Any help?

Sometimes the wrong spark plugs can cause this problem with the ECM indicating misfire or no combustion. If you are using iridium plugs switch back to the heavy electrode harley plug or something about the same. I had this problem on my ultra with the check engine light and it was the iridium plugs not playing well with the ECM
