Winter Project....

Hi All,

Too cold and icy to ride. Decide to give the Sporty a face lift.
Don't laugh too hard. It's the first I shot automotive paint. I'll post
more pic's as "Project Sporty" progresses.

Congratulations on your first attempt. Looks good. Be sure to show pics of finished bike.

That looks like a pro set-up compared to my attempts at painting my bags and rear fender. I think even the dog got a touch of black on her passing by my 'spray booth' (read: open garage). Still, with plenty of clear coat & elbow grease it came out ok.

Hey Everybody!

Thanks for the kind words. I tried to emulate the "Big Bass Gold" color
one can custom order from MoCo.
Used a Sharpe conventional gun (2.0 tip) for the primer and the clear base
mixed with gold flakes from House of Colors. The two other guns were from
Harbor Freight, HVLP 20oz. They came with 1.4 tips. On sale for $15.00!
Used one for clear and the other for base color.

I'll be awhile before the Sporty is ready. Things planned this month:

1) Fork rebuild
2) Polish sliders. Maybe triple trees.
3) Replace rotor
4) Install 33" sissy bar
5) Polish the primary/gear cover/cam cover. Install chrome derby.
6) Install a Flanders handlebar
7) Install PM grips
8) Install LePera solo seat
9) Fix the lights on the guages.

I know I'm leaving something out. I've got 2 big boxes of stuff to
throw on and purty her up.

Thank you for your kind words.
