Windsheld Replacement Help

Just got a different windshield for my '12 FLHX and need to know how much to tighten the bolts so I don't crack the fairing. Is there a recommended torque setting? Need to get a service manual this week. Thanks for any responses

Service manual for my '07 Ultra (shouldn't be much difference) states....

Alternately tightening the three screws to 25-30 in-lbs.

I generally just get them comfortably (but not too much) tight.
Then come back after they have been on a while to double-check them.

One other tip in addition to the torque settings.

Make sure the windshield isn't pinched incorrectly between the inner and outer fairings as you tighten the screws or you'll crack it for sure. Trust me - it's a sickening sound to hear as you're installing your brand new shield!

I wiggle the shield around a bit to make sure the slots in the shield have settled into the proper position. Hard to put into words but you'll see what I mean as you do it, hopefully.

And don't use loctite. The threaded brass ferrules are just pressed into the plastic. Loktite may cause them to spin when removing.
