I learned to always start bike in neutral with clutch lever pulled in and front brake. In use.
Therefore I always park bike in neutral even on inclines.

On an incline, it is a good idea to back the bike in so the rear tire is against any curb that exists. And always lean the bike downhill to maximize the lean. In those situations were there is no curb, then it is a good idea to leave the tranny in gear. What you do not want to happen is the bike to "creep" on the jiffy stand out into the traffic lane.

+1 with dbmg. And I start the same as you, in neutral with clutch in and foot on brake. Don't use front brake to keep right hand free if I need to twist throttle or something.
