I have been riding for over 40 years. I finally have a Harley that is worth showing off. I am having a little trouble cleaning all the chrome especially the chrome wheels. With all my harley years came a bad back. Does anyone have any suggestions on wht type of safe lift/jack I can use to clean my bike.

I second the J&S. I have had one for over three years now, it lifts the bike with no straps and never had a problem. I can move my bike all around the garage with no worries.

It depends on how many $ you have to spend, how much room you have, and how much work you are going to do.

The J & S seems like a very popular choice. I have a HF which does the job for my softy. I have used it for cleaning, changing fork oil and when I installed daytime driving lamps, no real heavy duty repairs. Nice looking ride!

I have the Big Red Torin, and I bought it on ebay. It's well built and works great on my ultra. If memory serves me Northern tool also sells them.

Save some dollars and get the yellow HB Freight lift. Works good. You can find a coupon on ebay for a couple of bucks and get one for 69.00 plus tax. Can't beat it for cleaning and misc repairs.

I second the vote for the harbor freight lift at sixty nine bucks. Been using mine for ten years.

It's darned hard finding anything that's not made in China anymore. I had hoped a lift I ordered from OTC might be made here since they are based here but once it arrived and I got it out of the box, there was the proud sticker proclaiming made in China. But I do think its better than Harbor Freights lift. Seems a lot heavier constructed and it has no trouble at all lifting my wife's Spyder. I installed floorboards on her trike using the OTC lift which got the thing high enough in the air that I could get under it to see what I was doing. That large a machine and it still felt stable. I don't think the HF would have. So at about half the price of a J&S it will do for no more than I will use it. Still wish it was made here or at least say that on their site. But then I might not have bought it.

I was looking at getting the harbor freight one, but sears has theirs on sale for 99.99 depending on your taste.
