I'm looking for new tires and have a dumb question. What is the difference between 130/90/16 and MT/90/16? What does "MT" mean?

The 130/90-16 and a mt/90-16 should be the same size it is just a different measurement to express the same size
however the width of the tyre and the shape of the sidewall varies from manufacturer to manufacturer
when i bought my fxdwd it was fitted with continental 130/90-16 and the belt only just cleared the tyre i later found out that some 3mm spacers had been fitted between the wheel and the pulley to get sufficient clearance when i replaced the tyre with an mt/90-16 from dunlop i removed the spacers and had plenty of clearance
so not only the size of the tyre but also the shape of the sidewall matters so best to go to the tyre manufacturers website and see what they recommend for your bike or use known to fit tyres
