What fluids to run?

Have tried others, but its Redline products in all 3 for me. BTW welcome to the forum from north TX.

I have a '08 SG with 90,000+ miles: Have always run Motul 7100 in the engine, Spectro Platinum 6 Speed Transmission Oil in the tranny (although I do have Baker DD7 that was installed at 43,000 miles) and HD Formula+ in the Primary. This seems to be the winning formula for my bike. Mz Bling ('06 Sporty Custom 80,000+ miles) run Motul 7100 in the engine and HD Formula+ in the primary/tranny hole and is the winning formula for her bike.

Thanks man, I love this bike. I've had dirt bikes growing up. I owned a 74 sporty years ago before I grenaded the bottom end. And a few turd jap bikes. This one is like a Cadillac compared to anything I've owned before.

With a bike about a dozen years old (especially one that you have not had the whole time), you may want to consider replacing all the fluids like the ones discussed above and fork/shocks and brakes. The stuff gets old and the brake fluid is hygroscopic (unless you are lucky enough for it to be DOT5). If you have air shocks in the back, then you can get that stuff out and replace it with a Mityvac. In fact that can also be used on the brakes. Check this out:

I use v twin valvoline in the engine mobile 1 syn gear oil in the primary and redline shock proof trans oil in transmission and she shifts like my zx12 did click not clunk, I had to wear boots to shift my chopper until I changed to this set up and then I could shift barefoot.I am sold on redline for the tranny.

Thanks man... The bike was fresh from the 30k mile service from a local HD dealership... Given the once over, front to back. Previous owner had a heavier fork oil out in too. I'm just perplexed by the 20w 50 in all 3 holes.

All the members here are here because we all want to help. I've always thought that being able to come to a forum and ask a question without worry that I'll get blasted was unique. I don't know if you can make it but we have an annual event in Salt Springs, Fl. the last part of Feb. or early part of March. We would be glad to see you.
 
Redline Shockproof for the tranny 6 speed will Quiet It Down...

20/50 Redline is a good oil and as long as we are talking Redline, MTL or the same is V=Twin Primary Lube...

I do use a German Oil for diesels in my motor; 10w60 2024 LiquiMoly...

One oil for all three holes is NOT for me or many others...

You need a good Engine oil..... a Primary oil; wet clutch approved.
Then nothing Less than a Gear Oil for a Tranny...
