Wax?

Lady at the dealer said I should put a coat of wax on the entire bike (minus bags) Chrome and all to help protect it. Is there anything specific that is made for chrome and the polished aluminum (I think) around the front shocks?

Stay away from anything that says "cleaner or polish" for the first year or so. Cleaners and polishes usually contain abrasives which your new finish doesn't need YET. Try not to wipe the bike off dry, it creates micro scratches that add up to hazing. I like pure carnuba wax, Pledge is very good also.

I use a "pledge" type product for quickie touch-ups but mostly for the windshield where it is excels in putting a thin coating that seems to remove very fine scratches and helps to keep the shield clean.

I also use those handy automotive spray waxes (Meguires, i.e.). They are great for almost anything that painted or metal. I found some with Canuba wax that I prefer. Hey, it's real wax. It's very easy to use, non-abrasive and I use it on chrome too.
