Upgrade to a halogen headlight now the fuse blows any ideas?

I just upgrade from a sealed beam headlight to a halogen bulb. Went for a ride to see the difference and the fuse blew. Any ideas why?

Check to see if any of the wires are pinched or grounding out somewhere. To much bulb for the fuse to handle?

Thanks Jeff. The halogen bulb is a 60 watt blue. I was wondering if it pulled to much power for the fuse

I'm thinking if the fuse blows right away it's likely to much bulb for the fuse or a wire is shorting out and pops the fuse when it receives power.

60Watt is 60 watt
if the sealed beam was 60 and the new one is 60 then they are the same
both would be drawing 5amp.

watts = volts * amps
Watts/volts = amps
60/12 = 5 amps

Roger02, just for giggles hook you sealed beam up and see if you blow a fuse. If not you got your answer.

Thanks guys. With the sealed beam back in the fuse doesnt blow. Ive contacted the company about the issue

Be carefull if you go to a higher number fuse.
You might let the smoke out.
