turn signals shutting off early

I just bought a 97 fxstc and everything is working fine except when I hit the left turn it flashes for about 5 seconds and shuts off. the right one will flash quite a bit longer. these situations are while rolling they will flash forever sitting still. I havent been able to get my hands on a owners manual or a shop manual yet.but why will the left one shut off so much sooner than the right?

Could be a bad module, I think it is inside the head light bucket, try the search box:s
