Transmission knocking

i have put my bike on a lift and when you spin back tire there is a loud knocking about every 2 revolutions. i thought at first it was the belt sprocket so i took off cover and it is still tight. any suggestions would be great.

Two turns of the back wheel means everything else is turning several times, which makes no sense.

It almost sounds like a deformed cog on the belt that is snapping down into a pulley groove every couple of revolutions. (maybe?)

I would be taking a close look at the individual cogs and pulley grooves. Take the guard off so you can really see what is going on.

Where is the noise coming from? Could it be the primary?

no i have taken the primary cover off. it sounds like the knocking is coming out of the transmission. when i put my hand on the transmission i can feel it knocking on the shaft
