Tranny backlash 03 5 speed

I have 2003 Duece and there seems to be too much backlash in the tranny. I have taken it to Harley dealer and told them there was alot of filings around the drain plug. There is only 38,000 klm on the bike. When just cruisin around say in 3rd about 60 klm and i roll the throttle back and forth it seems the tranny will separate from the engine and it wasnt like that when i bought it.
Harley says its fine. Any solutions?????

What lube are you using in the transmission? Check out the discussion here:

You should be using a premium quality full synthetic gear lube (NOT SYN3) rated at least GL-1 (GL-5 may be a better choice depending on your riding) and 75W-90 or 75W-140 depending on your temp range (climate).
