Tire pressure

Being an ex-Firestone employee during the 90's while Ford Explorers were flipping over I can tell you that you should follow the recommended tire pressure by the manufacturer's spec on tire pressure. Would you believe that the whole ordeal was caused by Ford trying to pass the rollover test by dropping the tire pressure 4 psi...on a cheap tire that was already at it's limits! They got it to pass and look at what happened.

Over-inflating your tires will give you less rubber touching the road and reduced sidewall flexing which results in less traction, faster wear and a rougher ride.

Under-inflating your tires will cause your tires to heat up significantly and lessen it's life. Not to mention it can make for a sloppy ride.

Specified tire psi gives you the best overall contact of rubber, least overall wear and smoothest ride.
