Tire Pressure Observation

Sharkey...run the recommended pressure, and do not exceed it...remember the max pressure on the sidewall is a recommendation that it be NOT exceeded. Also the rear tire will run hotter as Smitty says PLUS it has a larger contact/friction patch, which adds rolling resistance/friction and sidewall flex heating as well.

Why do you think bicycle racers use tires as thin as your index finger...for less rolling/contact resistance, heating and friction, relying on more pressure in smaller contact patch to balance losses, yet retain traction. Yet the tires allow "skitterish" handling and serious danger at the speeds they travel and potential for blowout (120 psi tires) make those riders in a catagory all to themselves when they race in the Tour De France.
