The Primary Rebuid is almost done

Finished the mod, clutch pack install!!! No more clunking shifting. Neutral is now very easy to find. The primary is now quite! The heavy duty clutch spring is going to make my left arm look like Popeyes. This web site was intrumemtal in this job. Thanks.

Thanks:D
I was surprised at the amount of wear that the tensioner had in it. I was also surprised at the cost of it!!! Ouch:(

Makes me want to inspect the cam chain tensioners.:33:

Can you tell us (me), how many miles on your bike before the upgrades?

Have you torn down the original compensator? How did it look? Pictures?

Good Job on the install! Thank You for posting this!

Cheers!

Ferrous,

The bike has 41k on the original comp.
The bike had some grinding issues during starting about 2 years ago.
I had the starter clutch replaced under warranty.
As time psaased, the bike began to make a loud clunking noise
When down shifting into 1st after start. Also it would clank
And rattle at shut down.
I used this forum to investigate the cause of the starter issues and
The shifting noise only to find out that the Compensater was an
on going issue with the 96 ci and up motors and the root of my problems.
The original comp was worn with wear marks only 1/2" away from
total catastrophic failure.
I did not take pics of the old comp. sorry. I installed a new old stock -08 and the
Compensaver. I hope it saves me the aggravation of installing another comp in the near future.
I'm getting ready to replace the clutch cable now. I dranded the transnission and cracked open the transmission cover.
It's draining now. I'll finish it up tomorrow. got to go to bed, I work mids.
Hope this helps.

Yes, Thank You, that does help, and, makes me nervous.

I'm experiencing some similar symptoms although they are mild. I have almost 35K miles on the clock so far. I've read about the Compensaver and I like the idea of it.

Thank You again for posting this.

Cheers!
