surge protector

I am not worried about the surge protector. I am worried about the electrical system on the bike if it is connected to a battery tender and I take a lightning strike.

I agree,that is a valid concern.I live in a area that has a particularly nasty storm season with massive electrical storms.I work dealing with the aftermath of these furies and have seen close-up(TOO close on some occasions)results of lightning strikes and transients on structures,Substation switch gear and distribution systems. I have NEVER seen any surge protection that can withstand a lightning strike.

Why not just disconnect it from the bike?I never leave my Battery chargers/tenders connected to my bikes if i'm not home.If you're home and a storm hits,you can remove the power cord;and if you're not home,well, it wont matter.
