Left with a group early Sunday Aug 8th out of OKC. We had on the road my 2007 Heritage, a 2009 Road King, a 1996 Ultra Classic, and a 2005 1200 that has been triked out. Following us in my 2004 Titan Crew Cab was a young couple that does not ride, they hauled up all the camping gear.
We stopped the first night in Broken Bow Nebraska, 515 miles. We arrived in Hill City on Monday after a stop at Wall Drug. Hit some light rain showers twicw on the way up. Really enjoyed the cooler temperatures as we rode north.
You'll notice in some of the pics I am wearing a mesh riding jacket, absolutely loved it in the heat. I fared better by the end of the day than my buddies.
If you have not been to Sturgis, you should go at least once. Pictures and videos don't do it justice as you can't take a picture of WOW! Every little town in the Black Hill, Keystone, Hill City, Custer City, Deadwood, and more were all having their own little "Sturgis". Great time to be had everywhere.
We stayed through Wednesday and the weather was great with no rain. I'm spoiled now as the riding in Oklahoma does not even compare to the scenery and curves through the Black Hills.
The return home we stopped in Grand Island Nebraska for the night. Riding out of the Hills into the heat was not fun. Left Grand Island Friday at 5:30 am and arrived back home in Mustang OK at 1:30 PM, 450 miles, stopping only for gas and to hydrate.
Total trip about 2400 miles on the bike. Each Harley in our group ran great with no problems.
Yes, we are already planning next years trip.
Here are some family oriented pictures.
