Stock motor idle speed

My 2008 FLHTCU, with V+H slip ons, with a Power Commander, seems to idle high (around 1000 rpm's). Is this high for a motor with stock internals and the exhaust change?:newsmile042::p

That is normal, the newer bikes idle higher than the older bikes do. It is better for the engine to idle a little higher because the oil pump will circulate the oil to the top end better.

1000 rpms is normal. When it's hot enough for heat mangagement to kick it, it will lower the rpms down to 900 (as long as you leave the throttle alone)

The idle speed is supposed to be 950-1050 because of not only the oiling but the added electrical load with the FI bikes driving the fuel pump. Any lower and slow driving like stop and go would run the battery down.
