My S&S 107 motor runs but the voltage meter fluctuates between 10 and 14 volts and drops dramatically when I turn on my headlights. I have been leaving the battery on a trickle charger at night but need to resolve this problem asap.
When the meter is reading 10 volts (engine running) the turn signals may or may not turn on, and if they do, the meter goes up and down with the flashing of the signals. Now if I leave the headlights off and turn them on during a high RPM cruise, the radio cuts off and then on again.
Is this a Battery, Stator or Regulator problem?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

I'd start with load test of your battery to eliminate that as a problem.

    Try these things:

    • Check for codes
    • Open up the derby cover and take a whiff - if burnt, pungent odor, probably burnt stator coils
    • Follow the diagnostics found in the Self-Help section
