starter stall

hoping you all can help me with this one, 02' flhtc with carb, starter started stalling awhile back, checked the battery cables and connections all looked good so i dident change them well then the started went so i changed it out with a all balls 1.7 kw unit also have a 385cca battery in it also should mention there is a stage 2 kit thats been in there 3 years now, today I was going thru the battery cables (4 ga) again and noticed that they are getting real hot real fast, cranked it over just a few times without starting it, it will start after the stall, any ideas?

Sounds like that starter is drawing too much, i would yank it off and bench test it

What's the volts,amps & ohms reading before and after you fire it up , Is it both batt. cables getting hot , do you know if they were getting hot before the new starter?
