I had the same leak on one of my sportsters. I pulled the timing cover bolt out. The manual does not cover this. But the plug looked like it has a releif between the threads and the head. I found an O-ring that fit, installed it back and leak gone. I'm hoping I didn't screw up, but the threads are separated from the sealing portion of the bolt by this releif cutout.
