Springer no not jerry

ok so what is the deal with springers, as some of you know i just bought my wife a 2011 cross bones. the manual says you have to have springers serviced at 500-1000-1500 miles? the 1000 i understand but 500 & 1500 and every 2500 there after ? sounds like lots of $$$$$. i have never taken my WG or UC to a dealer for service and would like to keep away from them for this, i know i need a sercive manual but any help would be great tks mike.

The springer front ends do require a bit more maintenance than the standard telescopic forks. They need more lubrication and check overs for the rockers as far as any wear in them. Looks are a major difference but it comes at a cost.

Like Glider says, springers have lots of pieces/parts that require periodic lubrication and inspection. I would hope that the dealership would not give the job to just any tech in the shop. The link is for an older model springer, BB didn't have a 2011 listed.
