Sportster shutting off at idle after start up or mid ride

Hey there, this has happened a couple time. I was riding my bike and would start up fine, i would let it warm up normally and go out to the store. On my way if i would be at a light long enough my bike would go from normal idle then would just shut off, id restart it and continue on. It has never shut off mid ride. I don't have it at a low idle speed. Just wondering if anyone has run into this problem. Let me know. Thanks

A blockage of some sort in the slow jet could cause this sort of issue
I have had a similar issue caused by carb icing the shape of the venture and the cooling effect of the fuel vaporising and the thermal transfer efficiency of the metal the jets are made from can cause the jets to get very cold any moisture in the air can freeze as it contacts the jets and create an ice blockage of the slow jet
when the engine stops the freezing stops the heat from the engine quickly melts the ice and the bike will then run ok again
Usually occurs at temperatures of 15 centigrade and lower when the moisture content is fairly high (rain/humidity)

My 87 sporty used to do that. It was the circuit breakers tripping and then resetting and it would fire up. Embarrassing until I figured it out. Don't think that's your problem but you never know.
