Hallo friends.
Im building my own sporty HD.
I have engine 1987 year. Ive bought voltage regulator from 1997 year sportster.
Anybody know if It fits? Or If not what years fit.

I replaced the vr on a an 87 sportster for a friend a few years ago and i am pretty sure it was a different unit from my 93 sportster part number for the 93 regulator is 74523-92 so new part for 92
however the part number 74523 has variations of 84, 84a, and 84t that may be the correct one for your bike i just do not have a parts list for that year bike

The real problem is that I dont have charging.
I suppose it could be voltage regulator but engine is working good.
I examined the cables going from stator and when engine is working - no stream.
I dont know what to do now.

One more think.
If I speed up the rotor to 1000 rpm - what should be the voltage between 2 cables whitch go out of the stator???
This is important.

I fixed charging in 1987 sportster.
The problem was in unnapropriate position of the magnets in rotor.
The magnets can't be put alternately - like in most bikes, but in one direction.

magnetization goes in one direction (+-)(+-) instead of (+-)(-+)

Uff.
THANX FOR HALP
