Slip on cans

Removing the cat will actually slightly richen the AFR,contrary to popular belief.

Really? Please explain that. I was not aware of that and would like to know the "science" behind it. I know that removing the cats reduces the restriction in the header pipe allowing more air (exhaust) flow, but was not aware that the AFR would richen slightly.

Thanx.

Cheers,

TQ

I read about it on another forum.I believe it was a Fuel Moto dyno test.Had something to do with exhaust velocity and the stock fuel map.I will have to do some research.

Without enough back pressure in your system, exhaust length and muffler diameter are very important for exhaust gas velocity and cylinder fill, with out the proper amount of back pressure the speed can slow down causing hot exhaust gasses to re enter the cylinder, this theory of less equals more really applies to short large diameter drag pipes meant for the strip JMO
