Six Speed Transmission Problem

Yes this post is 2 1/2 years old but I have to weigh in. Spur gearing does NOT produce vibration in itself. Spur cut gearing is very efficient since there are no loses due to side thrust..

There is nothing wrong with the selection of tooth design that HD made. Yes Spur gears do whine but they don't vibrate any more than helical and nor are they a design flaw. If spur gearing vibrated, the problem would be GLOBAL and not just with HD transmissions..
