Sissy Bar Brake/Tail light

I just installed a HD accessory sissy bar brake/tail light on my Heritage. It came provided with a splice kit, that consisted of a wire set with the proper plugs to connect to the factory harness. My question is what the heck do you do with the extra plugs that are hooked to the harness? There is not enough room to stuff them into the tail light housing to allow putting the tail light assembly back on. I now have them under the rear fender behind the tail light, secured with tie wraps and wrapped with electrical tape. Let it be known that these connector plugs that HD uses are not waterproof. They are fine where they are located, no fear of tire rub, just the fear of water getting into them.
