Simple Maintenance Reminder

Just thought I would throw this out there since it has happened to me and a quick check or look at the screws would have saved some minor hassle.

When you get the chance you may want to check the screws under the latch of your saddle bags. Granted there are 5 on each latch, but I actually had 3 of them come out and the other two were on there way out. Glad I caught it when I did but it could have been real hectic if I was on the highway when it all came apart.

I jiggle them when looking over the bike.
Making sure the latches are tight.
I've lost two since I've had the bike and now I carry a spare in the saddlebags.
Nice looking but the screws go into pot metal.

Only $12 but if I lost one where a dealership wasn't near, I'd hate to see the lid come flying up.
$12 is cheap insurance.

Ooops.... I was referring to the latches on the Tour-Pak.
Still, it's good to look over all the nuts, bolts and screws.
Something I always do when changing oil.

Funny how the vibration takes its toll on these, a bit of loc-tite may be the answer, good on you for making this post and a check point for all:D

Thanks for the reminder!:) I assume this happens on all the bikes with the hard bags. I know it happened to my beloved 97 RK.
