    Well here is my problem:

I am new to working on Harleys but have an 08 Sportster XL883 Custom. The first thing I want to do to the bike is put new pipes on it, specifically SE.
I was wondering what your feedback on the "Screamin' Eagle Street Performance Slip-on Mufflers - Sportster Shorty Dual" was? Would I be able to put these on myself with a manual?

Very easy job even without a manual, just a few bolts and you'll be dong fine. Just use the manual for the torque specs. and any thing you can gain from it.

Lol. Alright got it now. Would the owners manual explain that or do I need to buy a different one?

The owners manual will not get into that but the service manual will.

I understood from the dealer that if you change the exhaust , you will also need the stage 1 breather and a download to make it run properly.

I recommend the V&H slipons v the Screaming Eagle Slip ons.

The stage 1 isn't needed with slipons, sounds like they were trying to sell you more parts and labor.

Why would you recommend the V&H versus the SE slip ons?

Who would? they are both good pipes and a matter of personal taste.
