Welcome.
I recomend to clean both ends of the battery cables, also ground cable to frame, and any harness grounds to frame. Not saying it will be the problem but a bike or auto sitting for that long and if the battery was left connected to the cables can create corrosion.
As for the sensor, remove clean it and see what the connector pins in the harness and switch look like, any green on them they need to be cleaned, check the resistance. Go to the dealer and have them pull 1 from stock and compare the readings.
I would still buy it and install the new 1.
They can and do fail.
