Reverse - electric vs mechanical

I am putting together a sidecar to go on my 2012 Deluxe....electrical or mechanical, pros and cons?
Long story short, my wife had a stroke few years back, and promise she would ride again, hence the hack....any input would be greatly appreciated!

My FLRT has electric, the only down side I see is how long will the electric motor last JMO

I would think electric would be easier to install.
