Replacing turn signal switch on an 06 RK Classic

I have to replace the left turn signal switch on my bike. I pulled it apart and noticed there is not a lot of room in there. I have never had to do this before and am cautious. Anyone have any advice or tips and techniques to make this painless? Looking for some info on how to go about it in the best manner. Thanks.

Stagger any splices and use heat shrink tubing to insulate the splice after soldering it. Test fit the switch housings to get them into position so they fit properly after connecting the wires and holding them in place and snug, insert the screws and tighten them. This prevents pinched wires.
